47 Anger

Among the infamies of the soul is anger.

This condition is treated by inducing the soul to be content with the decree [of Allah], since anger is a burning ember from Satan. A man came to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and give him peace) and said, “Advise me.” He replied (may Allah bless him and give him peace), “Do not get angry.” The man repeated it a second and third time, and he replied (may Allah bless him and give him peace), “Do not get angry.”67

Anger takes the servant to the verge of destruction when it is not accompanied by restraint and prohibition from Allah Most High.
